JUST A SHORT WALK OUT

It is time to have a hard think about which farm you are going to place your broodmare for the upcoming foaling and breeding season. As most people are aware, the emergence of the Walk In farm over the years has become a fabulous option for most mare owners, perceiving that they provide a better level of personal care.

Located within 20 minutes from the Melbourne airport, Yallambee Stud is not only one of the most picturesque thoroughbred properties in Victoria with its undulating paddocks in the foothills of the Macedon Ranges, but arguably located on some of the most fertile broad-acre soils in the State sustained by very reliable rainfall. 
We pride ourselves for the transition we have made from being a farm which stood multiple stallions on the property, to a farm where it is all about the broodmare mare, foal, weanling and the yearling. We happen to still maintain substantial stallion investment which we feel is important to Victorian breeding industry. Historically running larger numbers we have the inherent infrastructure and equipment to deal with all circumstances and unexpected events that a stud farm may experience. More importantly we are vastly experienced hands on management, we have a loyal and long term personnel, and a team of veterinarian experts that have been involved with the farm for many years. We are an imposing example on the meaning of the traditional term of “Walk In Farm”. On top of all this we are a rock solid operation that has seen three generations of involvement.

Conveniently located just down the hill is Eliza Park. We have a professional relationship with Eliza Park standing the stallions in conjunction Magnus and Gods Own. Historically being so closely located to Eliza Park we have attracted many owners who have their mares here at Yallambee Stud for our professional services at the same time easily accessing Eliza Park’s extensive stallion roster (12 stallions this year). Added to God’s Own and Magnus on their roster is the recent Victorian Owners and Breeders Champion Stallion, Bel Esprit, and First Season Sire Written Tycoon. Other notable stallions include Statue Of Liberty (usa) and Wanted to name a couple.
Yallambee Stud is centrally located to access all stallions standing in Victoria on a walk in walk out basis for your broodmare. In fact we are only 12 kms from Lancefield – Victoria’s most central town which was originally earmarked to be the States capital city for this very reason.

The last few years we have been walking in mares to New South Wales stallions. Yallambee Stud, Yungaburra and Dorrington Park have coupled to engage Black Type Transport and renowned horseman and driver Greg Capewell to transport the mare or mare and foal into New South Wales on a walk in basis (which can be approached in a couple of different ways). We find this concept economical, very safe and highly successful. Many of the leading private breeders believe we will see more of this practice as stallion rosters continue to increase in size on the larger farms running substantial broodmare numbers.
