The Art Of The Thoroughbred

A gem of an idea: William Inglis are hosting an art competition the Inglis Equine Art Prize, and apparently they have a spectacular standard of works submitted. Naturally it’s all about the thoroughbred, and this year’s subject is “Life at the Horse Stud”. There are rules and the most important is the horses represented must be registered thoroughbreds. I believe that the competition has attracted over 100 submissions and there are 34 that have made the final cut. All paintings will be available for sale. See the William Inglis site News section for the complete story and viewing places and dates of the finalists. http://bit.ly/n1t4iO

From the same region of our farming days in the Western District, Victoria, Virginia Farley spent a day here at the farm during yearling preparation in February. Virginia submitted four pieces to the competition, of which one titled “In Hindsight”, made the final cut. If you are a fan of horse related scenes, and more particularly farm animals, Virginia’s web sit is well worth a visit at http://bit.ly/nX0516
Pictured on this blog is “In Hindsight” with Yallambee crew members Tracie, Anton and Merrick heading out onto the drive for the morning walk with sales yearlings (top) . Secondly we have Yallambee Studs favourite choice “The Valet” depicting Jessie, rugging up Al Maher x Platine Hill colt (purchased by G. W. Racing Bloodstock P/L at Melbourne Premier Sales 2011)
If you are following us on Facebook, all four pictures are in an Album.
