WORLD AT HIS FEET: World Fortune, Another stakes winner from Yallambee Stud.
Racing in Macau the Yallambee Stud graduate of the 2007 Inglis Premier sales draft, World Fortune put in great effort recently to take out the G3 Summer Sand Challenge. This fabulous win was on the back of an unlucky second in the Group 1 Star of the Sand Stakes.
By Testa Rossa (a stallion very dear to our hearts), the chestnut colt World Fortune was born and raised at Yallambee Stud. The very personable New Zealander Shane Kennedy of Champagne Racing purchased the impressive colt from the Yallambee Stud draft at the 2007 Inglis Premier sales for $50,000. The colt returned to Yallambee Stud for several months before crossing the ditch to Shane’s racing stables.
Wingin’ A Prayer, the dam of World Fortune, is a bit of a favourite around the farm having resided at Yallambee Stud since 2003. The daughter of Raise A Stanza from Just For Luck, the well related Wingin’A Prayer is the half sister to the Group 2 MRC Sandown Guineas winner Scenic Warrior (also 2nd G1 MVRC Australia S, 3rd G1 STC Rosehill Guineas & G1 STC Canterbury Guineas). Wingin’A Prayer is also the full sister to Stanzaic, a winner of 12 races including three Listed wins (BTC Doomben Slipper, STC Moet and Chandon S. AJC Shoe County Quality H.) and a further two Listed seconds and G3 third.
From the green pastures of Yallambee Stud to the sands of Macau, no doubt there are more top level performances yet to be seen by World Fortune.
